Work Experiences / Areas of Interest

Practice as psychiatric clinical pharmacist for approximately 30 years. Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP). Previous faculty positions at Washington State University & University of Minnesota Colleges of Pharmacy as well as University of Washington School of Pharmacy (Affiliate Faculty). Extensive practice experience with institutionalized mentally ill and mentally retarded / developmentally disabled patients in Minnesota State Hospital System and Washington State Division of Developmental Disabilities. Additional specialization in the treatment of epilepsy. Author / co-author of chapter on Seizure Disorders in Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs edited by Koda-Kimble and Young since 1980. Current areas of interest focus on monitoring/preventing/treating metabolic adverse effects of psychotropic drugs and cost – effective use of psychotropic drug dosage forms.

Current Clinical Work

Currently, Professor of Pharmacy Practice with Idaho State University College of Pharmacy with practice, teaching, and research activities at Boise VA Medical Center in Boise Idaho. Provide consultation regarding pharmacotherapy of psychiatric and neurologic disorders to staff and patients of BVAMC. Teach Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 Pharmacy Residents, PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residents and PGY2 & PGY3 Psychiatry Residents.
